Layla G Silver is Californian (born, bred and educated) who is bananas about Jazz.

 

Layla found her way into the world after discovering The Great American Songbook in the mid 2010's . It was the haunting, timeless melodies, lyrical storytelling set to ever-changing syncopation and unpredictability of the live musical interpretations that hooked her.  

 

She began learning Jazz through observation, application and intuition. Layla feels that, 'the pursuit of  exploring music is a full (life)time preoccupation." Sounds exciting! She also frequents record stores searching for more gems to add to her ever-expanding records collection; while equally supporting the medium of music on 'wax'. After all, records produce a deeper, richer auditory experience.

'Layla & The Jazz' is comprised of some of the finest musicians this side of Texas. The sound swings, and Layla most prefers 'an up beat that will take us somewhere then bring us back gently.'  She enjoys residencies and performing with her (The Jazz Hours) rhythm section. A warm-soul'd California girl, her appeal is rich and nostalgic, like a glowing sunset.
